BMW, which stands for Bavarian Motor Works in English, was founded in Munich as an airplane company after the turn of the century. It wasn't until 1928 that they launched their first automobile. In Cincinnati and everywhere else in the world, BMW wasn't yet well known, but over time it would become a household word. Their early models, while not yet luxurious or anything special, were extremely popular, allowing BMW to weather the Great Depression well. Unlike a lot of other car companies, they came out with their wheels rolling.
During the 30s, 40s, and 50s, BMW became known for their engines and quality. They won numerous races and awards throughout these decades, while slowly building up their brand in the mind of consumers in Cincinnati and every other city in the world. Everyone wanted a "Beamer." During the 70s and 80s, BMW continued their quest toward power and performance, using technology to get an edge on the competition.
Today, BMW has finally built up their stable of cars and SUVs and has refined their vehicles so that they truly are synonymous with high quality but affordable luxury vehicles. Not everyone can afford a new BMW, but older used BMWs are immensely popular in Cincinnati and elsewhere because they're so well built and dependable. Now known by their tagline, "the ultimate driving machine," BMW is sure to impress in the years to come.
