Cincinnati Used Cars

Lincoln was founded as a car company in 1917 by Henry Leland, someone who had made his fortune making auto parts. The name came from his favorite president and hero - Abraham Lincoln. The company didn't fare too well in the early years and was bought by Ford Motor Company in 1922, who kept the name and the cars, which were becoming known as some of the most luxurious US cars on the market. If you were important in Cincinnati, you most likely drove a Lincoln, or owned one.

Throughout the 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s, Lincoln maintained it's approach to automobiles - make them fancy and comfortable, more than any other car could offer at the time. This led to a lot of sales over the years, even in cities like Cincinnati. Unlike other car companies, Lincoln never really downsized to compacts or sub-compacts, even with the gas crisis in the 70s. Through the 80s and 90s, they continued to sell their most popular large, luxury automobiles.

In the late 90s, Lincoln stopped their popular Mark series of cars with the Mark VIII. They entered the then emerging luxury SUV market, though, with the Lincoln Navigator, which was even bigger than the biggest Lincoln that had come before it. People in Cincinnati and other cities throughout the country liked it, though, as it became a sort of status symbol for people who owned and drove one.
